Broken Condom Durng MEsntruation..please help

Hello. I had protected sex with a female friend yesterday and she was menstruating. At a point I noticed the sex felt very good, but I didn't think the condom broke and i continued till I ejaculated (inside her). I guess I must have been inside her unprotected for about 3 to 4 minutes. After the sex, she told me she was negative, and she last tested in September without any sexual actvity between. She even told me she will test on Monday just to ease my mind, but I am still so scared. I cannot function again..I am in Nigeria with somewhat high HIV rates. Please advise me..it is eating me up. Am I at huge risk? Many people have said that the chances are very low for the insertive partner, but considering that I was inside her unprotected for that long does it really increase my risk?

Thanks a lot.

Your friend has told you she is negative, and has not had any unprotected sex since her result. I would believe her, people rarely lie when asked their status directly. However, if it is that bothersome to you, and if she is your friend, the easiest thing to do would be to see if she would be willing to test for you. Quite frankly, I think you are overreacting, and doubt, very seriously, that your friend was HIV+. Which, of course, means you did not experience an exposure to HIV when the condom broke.

I am planning on going on a PEP course. Do you think my situation warrants this? Thanks

She was most likely telling the truth.

Thanks a lot midinight_sun. I guess all I need is reassurance. Are there any other negative effects of menstrual blood coming in contact wit the penis? I will try not to be worried about the HIV thing!
