concerned story..

hello doc,

about 6 months ago i had a sexual contact with a escort out curiouisty...and to be honest i'm never doing it again!..before i began to to perform on her i did unprotected oral (fingering) and that time i don't think i had any fresh cuts or even scapped cuts at that time that lasted around 1 to 2 mins....then the escort and i had protected sexual entercourse with a latex spermicide condom..(in which at the time i didn't know about spermicide condoms until now)..the entercouse lasted around a min to min half.the condom looked intact and no slippage or tearing from the intercourse from what i could see..but i never tested the condoms had leakage..i just hurried to disgarded the condom in the trash can and iimmediately washed my hands after the interaction...

after i finished up at the restroom i left motel/hotel and went home.when i got home i took a shower right after..so i'm wondering doc, if the hiv residue still be intact and get into my bloodstream if i had jock itch..i'm 24 and i have jock itch for the past 3 years is it possible for hiv to get transmitted to finger or fingernail to the infected jock itch when touched upon?

but that not the main question..after the whole altercation exactly after 4 weeks from possible infection i got a fever, with swollen tonsils, and a slight case of diaraha.i thought to myself this could be no way!!..then later on that week when i got better i got a rash underneath my underarms.i started get little concerned so i went to the doc, and the doc hit me with crazy news saying i have high blood pressure.!!..its still just hard for me to swallow a 24 year man having high blood pressure..its just crazy.so during around the 6 week from infection the doc ran some blood work on me..The doc told me the blood work was for cell count ect ect.so i don't really know if my clinical doc actually did any std testing when they drew blood from me..but the test came out negative..

so doc what are my options?should i get tested again?

Welcome to our Forum. There is no risk at all to you from the interaction you describe.  HIV is not transmitted through masturbation ("fingering") or condom protected vaginal intercourse.

In the case of masturbation transmission does not occur, even if there were cuts or scrapes on your hand.  No reason to worry about this at all.

With respect to your vaginal exposure, the condom worked and to "test" condoms for breakage is a messy waste of time. When condoms fail they break wide open leaving no doubt at all that they have broken.  Condoms do not fail by leaking in small quantities.

Your jock itch, if present at the time of exposure, also does not in any way represent a vulnerability to infection and HIV would not pass through such lesions to cause infection.

Finally, with regard to your interaction with your doctor, I have the following observations:
1.  The symptoms you describe could be due to anything and are most likely due to one of the plain old, every day viruses that people encounter on a regular basis.  There is virtually no chance that they represent HIV acquired from the interaction you describe.
2.  Anxiety raises blood pressure.  So do viral illnesses.
3.  You should always ask your doctor why he did blood tests and what they were.  You can still call the office and ask someone these questions- I suggest you do.

Bottom line, you have virtually no risk for HIV.  You have nothing to worry about and I do not see any medical need for testing related to the exposure you described above.

I hope this helps.  EWH
