Now that I am sick with pus on tonsil, fever 100F max, sore throat and lumps on my lymph nodes, can I take a 4th generation ELISA on 28 days, which is the day after tomorrow, even if I'm still sick?
Move along, you never had a risk and didn't need testing.
You Do not have an HIV CONCERN.. Kindly accept the facts and move on.
Thank you Teak for your immediate response, your contribution to this forum is quite valuable :-)
I would just like to ask you one last thing. Your answer that I never had an exposure is pretty confident.
So, is it the low viral load of pre-ejaculatory fluid or the fact that the fluid was exposed to air, even for a few seconds that makes you so sure?
It's not that I have convinced myself that I am positive, I just want to make sure I understand completely your logic to my risk assessment.
I of course have scheduled getting tested in 8 weeks but it's too much time and I need to calm down a bit in order to deal with my other obligations.
You never had an exposure.
Sorry to bring it up again, but I can't reach my physician, she is on holiday leave.
Is there some minimum time required for the virus to become inactive outside the host?
I keep reading that it can survive for several minutes and my encounter did not take that long to occur, probably less than a minute or 30 seconds.
Oh dear, it's my first time on this forum and I had no idea, thanks guys.
If you want a doctor to answer you'll need to post in the Expert Forum and pay the fee.
then you will have to go to the other forum and pay to speak to a doctor
Thanks a lot Lizzie for the immediate response, although I still need an answer from a doctor to feel relieved, no offense :-)
hiv is not transmitted outside it's host. once exposed to air, it becomes inactive and unable to infect.
you had NO risk...NONE
The outside of the condom has likely touched his pre-ejaculation fluid before entering my vagina, so I thought that this counts as unprotected encounter, that and the bleeding gums had me worried, that's why I seeked information on this forum. I'm not sure that the risk is too low to worry about.
maybe i'm missing something here, but i can't find where you had an unprotected exposure.
a condom was used...that equals SAFE sex.
nothing else you've described put you at risk.
