Condom Slippage

Hello there,

First off I want to say thank you to medhelp for running this site and also would like to thank contributing members who help answer questions in this field.

I am a homosexual male, 21 years old. I am versatile but the other party involved was a top so I played the bottom role for this encounter.

15 days ago I had a possible exposure. I met someone online, whom before meeting, I asked specifically, "Are you std free and Hiv negative?". To this he answered that he was indeed std free and hiv negative, and he went on to say that he likes to split the std question into two parts, asking specifically about HIV and then asking about all other diseases to clarify that there are other diseases out there besides hiv that one can catch.

So we met up and got to business. Oddly enough he did not ask nor let me give him oral sex (later he confessed that he heard that you can catch things like that so he did not engage in oral sex of any kind), we made out heavily, and then he rubbed his penis on my anus. He then put a lubed condom on his penis and we began to have intercourse. Throughout the intercourse I kept on touching his penis to make sure the condom had not ripped or slipped off. However, everything I checked, the condom appeared to be moving up his shaft, so I had to readjust it. He was very aggressive in bed, and when we both went faster for a few seconds, I paused to check if the condom was still on. I put my hand on his shaft and felt bare skin, so I immediately jumped off of him and then realized that the condom was sticking out of my anus, approx half way in. AFter that he assured me he was negative, and that if the condom had slipped off it would have been all the way in my anus, not sticking out half way. He also said that he never felt that it had fallen off all the way as you would be able to tell the difference between the barebacking and sex with a condom on. After I calmed down we continued to mess around, but just with him rubbing his penis on my anus. Mind you that he cums alot.

Anyway, so I'm scared that I might have been exposed to seminal fluilds (precum) as the condom shifted up his shaft. Moreso, I don't know if the head was even covered while he was inside of me. Exactly two weeks from the incidence (yesterday) I began having flue like symptomgs (fatigue, nasea, running nose - not sure if I have a fever or not) and this ailment is still going on today. he told me that he tested negative two days after the incidence because he didn't want me freaking out.

I just can't bring myself to believe this guy. I kept on asking him multiple times if he was infact negative and always said yes. eventually, a few days ago be blocked me from messaging or calling him. I assume it is because I kept on asking him about his status. Although it might be because he has something to hide. I don't know what to make of this situation. What are my risks? Does the fact that the condom was half way on half way off indicate it was on the whole time? Why am I coming down with flu like symptoms exactly two weeks after the incidence?

I have not been able to stay focused on my day to day stuff because of this experience.

You can ask someone about their hiv status before or after the event but you may never receive the truth--protection is the key.You should have taken a DUO test at 4 weeks because it's very accurate at that timeframe.

Thank you for your prompt response. I actually did question his status before the act, I just continued to question it afterwards.

Today I went in and received a rapid HIV test @ 17 days post possible exposure and I tested negative. How reliable is this test at 17 days? They pricked my finger then placed the blood on a little small circular hoop and into a solution with a device that looked like a pregnancy test. I explained the situation to the guy at the clinic and he said that it seemed like a low risk situation and I probably have nothing to worry about. He also said that Over 50% of people serocovert between 2-3 weeks, is this true?

I want to add....quit bothering this guy.  You entered into a mutual sex act, he told you what he told you, and what's done is done.  The time to DEMAND information would have been BEFORE you had sex with him, not after.

It sounds like he lost the condom when thrusting out.  It's unlikely he was inside you unprotected, as you would have been fishing the condom out of your hind end.

That being said, if you're not 100% sure the head of his penis was covered the entire time he was inside you, then you need to test.  You can obtain your conclusive result at 3 months post exposure.

Lastly...never take someone's word for something as serious as STD/HIV risks.  You did the right thing by having protected sex, but you can't just take his word that he's clean.  Hooking up with random men from the internet is a bit risky that way.

Sounds like the condom was ill-fitting (too big).  If you noticed slippage, the best thing to do would have been for hin to hold onto it, or abstain until you found a condom that was a better fit.

Personally, I don't think you had a risk, but I understand why you would be worried.  Just take a test at 3 months to ease your mind.
