Hi! I'm 23 years old straigh male.

I've only had 4 sexual encounters, which from those 4, the first one is only the which is not protected which was about 6 years ago. My second partner was about 4 years ago and the 3rd partner was 3months ago. My recent partner we had protected vaginal sex but unprotected oral sex. 2 weeks after, i developed shingles. after shingles, i had a rash on my face, chest and back which lasted for 2-3 weeks. I was scared so in may 3, i took an hiv test and the result was non reactive. My partner also took hiv test on may 5 which is also non reactive. I was not satisfied because during my test, i was taking prednisone for 2 weeks (first week was 40mg and second week was 20 mg and was using desowen cream on the second week) though on the day of the test i didn't took any. So in may 11 i took another hiv test (6 days without prednisone and desowen cream), i was also non reactive.
My questions are:
1.) Does prednisone and desowen cream affect hiv test?
2.) Does my hiv test in may 3 and may 11 means that my shingles and rashes was not caused by hiv?
3.) Can anything affect my hiv result? It was rapid test and extracted from my veins.
4.) Does my test results mean that i havent been infected from 3 past sexual relationship?
4.) I'm planning to take another test in june 1, which will be 7 weeks after exposure from my hiv negative partner and 9 weeks post shingles. Will my results stay the same?
5.) I never oral sex the girl. She was the one giving me blowjob. Who's at risk? me or she??

Thank you!

As an adult, the only risks for HIV are:
1) having unprotected, penetrative vaginal or anal sex, or
2) sharing IV drug needles with other IV drug users.

NOTHING else you can think of is a risk for HIV.  So, the only risk you had was your unprotected event 6 years ago.  The other events are NOT a risk for HIV.

You have tested conclusively negative for your only risk event, and you do not need any more tests.  You do not have HIV and whatever is causing your shingles or other symptoms is NOT related to HIV.

Thank you for your answer!

Last question is that does prednisone and desowen cream which are corticosteroid, can they affect hiv test???

And if i tested hiv negative 4 weeks after my shingles and rashes, that means hiv was not the cause of it??

Im just so paranoid and depressed sorry
Hi there - as you were advised, your symptoms are not related to HIV.  Your medication would not have any effect on your tests.  There isn't anything more to say as you are conclusively negative for HIV.

@diver58

Thanks for the answers. But my shingles and rashes occured 2 weeks after our last sexual encounter. So by testing non reactive in may 3 and may 11, does that mean that it was not hiv that caused my shingles and rashes???

If your May 11 test was a Duo test and done 28+ days after exposure, then the Answer is "No it was not HIV that caused shingles and rashes"
In may 3 it was 20 days last exposure and may 11 it was 28 days. It was rapid test. But she tested non reactive. So im asking is that hiv didnt cause my shingles and rashes?? Because what i know is that shingles appear in the latest stage of hiv. Im just so scared and depressed sorry

1. No
2. Any symptom appears before the exposure, has no relation with the exposure
3.No, but a rapid test is conclusive only after 3 months after the last exposure
4.Yes any test done after 3 months (for simple Antibody Test) or 28 days (for Duo test) of our last exposure, excludes us from all of our previous exposures
5. It is strongly envisaged that your  next test will not be different from what you got already. Suggest you to get HIV duo test anytime now and collect your conclusive report
6. None of you at risk in that situation
