Condom safety

If protected sex is safe sex, why would a person get tested if the condom did not fail or slip off? Even if he/she has more than one partner?

Testing is recommended in case of a risk. If condom did not fail during sex, there is no need for a test. Condom protected sex is protected sex, regardless of number of partners and their health status

If a condom fails the wearer will undoubtedly know that it breaks, correct?
Yes he would know it, because condom failures are catastrophic and too obvious to ignore
