Cheer up dude. We must keep life on. Even if, despite the tiny likelihood, someone infected HIV, modern medicine definitely could keep him alive for as many years as normal people live.

Hi nick and joggen,

I went and consulted a doctor and given throat swab, blood, urine and anal swab. He wants to figure if I already have any STI from before I already started a 3 drug, 6 day PEP starter pack after which I will need to do it for a month in total 36days. I need visit the doctor 5/6 times until the last test in 6 months.

I’m straight, was a bit curious about ts encounter, but never attempted it.  I got so drunk last night and now I have to pay for my recklessness. Feeling so anxious, not sure what the coming months has for me. But I really would like to thank you all for reading and giving me your suggestions. I’m so stupid and I always learn things the hard way.

PEP if taken within 72 hours reduces the risk of HIV infection by 80-90%. This particular situation could probably go either way with respect to you receiving PEP. Even though you don't know your partner's status, the chance that the type of partner that you describe would have HIV would be significant.

The decision to go on PEP should always be between yourself and a physician. Your course of action should be to see a doctor ASAP, discuss your exposure with them, and follow their advice. Seeing an infectious disease/HIV specialist would be preferable, but if you cannot get in immediately then discussing your exposure in an emergency room would be appropriate. Just keep in mind that PEP costs at least $1000 and has significant side effects. If you do go on PEP be sure that the doctor explains the risk to you.

Hi Nick, Thank you for your time and comments. I will definitely do what you recommended. But in the mean time should i go to a doc and discuss this? May be do a standard antibiotics course? I heard there are some medicine you can take within 48hrs of the incident that  reduces risk? is there really anything like that? thanks a lot again

Well for starters you were at risk of infection, Anal sex is known to be the highest risk regarding sex, but a risk is a risk. Do to the fact that you are not 100% sure the TS had HIV PEP would not be recommended by most HIV doctors. Knowing you were at risk you will want to get tested for HIV 3 months post exposure for a conclusive result. Testing at 6-8 weeks will give you a great indication of your status but you must test again at 3 months.

Hope this helps
