We don't expect much from questioners, but we do expect them to read our replies. See my original response. I haven't changed my mind.
Any more such nonsense and the entire thread will be deleted.
thanks a lot doctor.
last thing once and for all. can i have normal sexual relationship with my wife without any fear of being infected or getting her infected?
Scientifically, the reasons are 1) it takes lots of HIV exposure for transmission to occur. Even with infected semen deposited in the vagina, there is only 1 chance in 1,000 the woman will become infected. 2) In HIV/AIDS clinics, we never see patients with HIV who did not have unprotected vaginal or anal sex, or injection drug use with shared needles. We never, ever see anyone who had a trivial exposure of the sort you describe. HIV is a sexual and blood-borne infection, and you didn't have such an exposure.
I have never advised anyone to get tested on account of this sort of exposure. Of course I often tell people to be tested if my advice doesn't settle their fears and they feel they need the additional assurance of a negative test result, regardless of how low the risk was.
When the cut occurred doesn't matter.
Ignore any more "yes but" or "Oh I forgot" questions. There is no information you can think of that would change my opinion or advice, so don't ask. Just move on without worry. This thread is over.
i forgot to mention that when i was bathing i didnt see any blood on the cut but may be it got washed out with water and may be it was bleeding when it originally got cut during the massage
no more questions thank u.waiting for your reply.
dear doctor
please could you tell me why my exposure is no risk?i have seen on the forum that you have told people with similar exposure to test etc like contact with blood which comes and touches the wound..fresh.
please could you re assure me?
thanks a lot.
Welcome to the forum.
I am happy to confirm the accurate replies you had on the community forum. There was absolutely no risk of HIV from this event -- even if somehow you received a needle stick or some other injury of your finger during the massage. You should not be worried, do not need testing. You should continue your normal sexual practices with your wife; you will not put her at risk of HIV or anything else.
We don't examine posted photos, but it doesn't matter what your finger wound looks like; it would not change my opinion or advice.
So no worries! All is well -- Best wishes-- HHH, MD
