1- You need to post questions on the related forum. You said you had outbreaks even before this encounter, so you had the virus from before. HSV stays with you, but the outbreaks are supposed to become less frequent over time. On the Herpes forum maybe they can tell about the different types.
2- Your chance are ZERO. I'll save you the question.. ((What if she had some cuts in her mouth and some blood in her saliva ??? STILL ZERO)).
3- From this encounter ABSOLUTELY NOT.
4- You don't need an HIV test, but a DUO at 4 weeks post exposure is very reliable, but personally, I would always say 12 weeks post exposure is conclusive IF a person had a risky encounter, which you didn't.
Bottom line, you do NOT have an HIV concern.
Sleeplessnights24, Thanks for your reply. Is fourth generation test after 14 days reliable? How reliable is this?
As for herpes how do I test this? How often can I start.
It wouldn't be conclusive, but at 14 days an antibody test would be around 50% reliable. Since the DUO also looks for antigens and would probably detect them at 14 days, then the DUO at 14 days would be even more reliable, but I can't put a figure on it ((I'm thinking maybe 75-80%)), BUT THAT'S MY PERSONAL ESTIMATE and it may be wrong. BUT, the DUO at 14 days in not conclusive. Some would say at 28 days it is conclusive. I always go for the 12-week mark.
For Herpes I think it's 3-4 months, but it would be better to ask on its own forum.
But, if you're thinking about getting tested for HIV for THIS encounter, PLEASE don't waste your money.
Thanks again for your help
Hi experts
I have done a fourth generation test after 20 days which came negative.
I have done VDRL and HPV-2 test after one month both negative.
For the last few weeks I keep getting sick with flu sinus infections and sore throat. I recover with some antibiotics then keep getting them again and again.
How conclusive was the HIV test I took? Do I need to repeat? Is the recurrent flu symtoms relate to ARS?
Hi there. HIV is not diagnosed by symptoms and as is stated clearly, what you write of here is not a risk for HIV. You've tested negative and can test again if you like, but it will remain negative as you did not risk HIV with the scenario you describe here. There is nothing to add to that so we are now closing this thread. Good luck
