Dental equipment fear

I have HIV contamination fears which I've been handling much better in the past few months thanks to medication and exercises, but I went to the dentist yesterday and my fears have been exacerbated to the maximum. I had profilaxis done and the dentist asked me to close my mouth around the tube that absorbs all the fluids. Then this morning I read that it's a bad practica and can cause cross contamination.

I talked about this with my husband and he's not concerned, it sounds like a lot of dentists still do this, but I'm freaking out, because my four year old daughter is also been to the dentist and I'm pretty sure she closed her mouth around the tube a couple of times.

I wanted to call the dentist or a doctor to see if we're in danger, but my husband thinks it's an OCD issue and that I should just forget it. I can't tell for sure and I'm feeling sick with fear. I would appreciate it any suggestions.

1. How long did it take you to find that?
2. Finding that clearly shows anxiety is at high and you need to get control of it
3. It says nothing about HIV. So no there is not a risk just as I wrote.

The article you reference makes no mention of HIV - that is because HIV cannot be transmitted that way.  If you have other questions about the safety of using dental equipment, we suggest visiting the Dental Health forum, as this forum is HIV specific.

Suggest you speak to a therapist as this has nothing to do with HIV.
