Dental transmission

Hi,

I will try to be brief.

I had a dentist appointment (not the first time with this dentist) during which he voluntarily did a gum prob. Two weeks after that I had classical flu symptoms ( i did get the flu shot). The fever last for a week, but the symptoms persisted for 4 more weeks.

I have seen the dentist not maintaining basic hygiene protocols , like changing gloves between patients before (sometimes, not regularly). I haven't paid attention then, as he was someone i could afford within my budget.

My question is if the dental instruments were not sterilized as they were supposed to be, what is this risk of HIV transmission, from patient to patient.

Seconds...HIV becomes deactivated shortly after exposed outside the body and to the elements on the world. Again you have no concern.

I think that wasnt patient to patient.

Just a question regarding the basics of the virus. How long can it survive on inanimate objects (like the dental instruments) if the viral load is very high ?

As far as I remember it was only instruments.

You were never at risk. There has only been one transmission by a dentist and it was intentional.

Was a needle used or just dental instruments

Why do you say so...
I mean I wasn't into all this, but my primary care doctor asked me if I had been into any risky activity out of the blue, and i told him the only one could be the dentist office. Then he explained me about the ARS symptoms, and also collected blood for the hiv test.

I had high fever, sore throat, muscle ache, and swelling around the throat area.

NO RISK and your symptoms are not those of ARS

Nothing to worry about

Along with Flu symptoms I also had oral thrush for which my Dr gave me Nystatin.
