Did I contract HIV

Hello all,

I recently posted this in the OCD forum (because I do have that) and thought that I should post it here as well.

I recently took up Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and have already fallen in love with it. I was training on Thursday and was paired to grapple with a blue belt (A rank higher then me). While walking up to the blue belt it was discovered that the guy he was previously grappling with had cut his finger. He had left blood on the mat and all over his opponent's (the guy I was being paired with) GI (a GI is the uniform that we wear). By the time I came to the guy I would be grappling with, the guy who cut his finger had already taken a knew partner (while knowing he was still bleeding out of his finger) and bled on the other guy's GI too. To me this just shows a lack of hygiene and respect.

Anyway, I started to grapple with the guy who had the blood on his GI (blood was dry, I have heard that dried blood cannot hold the HIV virus) and then noticed that there was blood on the mat. To my knowledge I did not touch the blood on the mat (although I was very close to it) and I am unsure of the blood on my partners GI . After discovering that there was blood on the mat our instructor cleaned it up with Lysol.

I have a very tiny cut on my left thumb from a hang nail and a micro cut that I discovered on my index finder which I just noticed.

I have no evidence that the guy who bled has any diseases what so over although he just didn't have a "clean" look to him.

I don't have HIV (I have been tested before (tested negative ) and would strongly prefer not to contract it.

For some reason (or some how) I have convinced myself that I have it. I am freaking out and the thought of my having it and it is consuming every thought I have. I do have a soar throat (although it may just be a burn from hot food/tea) and did have a headache today.

I have even told this same situation to 2 nurses (friends) and a doctor (dermatologist) and they all said that I shouldn't be worried. Yet, I am still convinced that I have it.

I do not think that I contracted HIV like this. So instead of freaking out for three months I thought I would just get your guy's thoughts on the situation.

What do you guys think are the chances of contracting HIV from this?

According to what I have read it is a very low possibility of contracting HIV this way.

Honestly, I know the chances of this are pretty low, but that does not make it impossible.

HIV cannot maintain its infectiousness outside a human body.

You are reading wrong information, it is not a risk.
