should i go for second test?

I had protected sex with a thai CSW. Went for HIV testing (rapid P24 Combined antigen and antibody test) after 6 weeks 4 days. Test is negative, but the doctor advised me to go for another testing at 3 months. He advised me that the tests are in no way conclusive, it's only "99% accurate" according to him, he added my risk of contracting HIV can still be 1 in a million to 1 in 10 million.

I want to put this behind me, plus I dont want to pay another $50 and having to take another leave from work for re-testing at 3 months, since my risk is somewhat small risk, but the doctor disagreed with my thinking. And it got me very worried.

Should I really get retested? Give me honest opinions please.

Thank you.

oh great!! a qualified nurse replied!

thanks for alleviating my stress and depression due to this incident, hopefully I can find closure to this nightmare. Definitely had learnt my lesson to not f**k any more high-risk CSWs..

You didn't need testing and don't need anymore testing.  Protected sex is safe sex in regards to HIV.  HIV cannot get through a condom, the condom would have to break, which you would know.

You are 100% clear because you never had a risk in the first place.

sorry for bringing this topic up again

last question!
I want to know how conclusive is my 6 weeks 4 days negative result, it's a rapid P24 Combined antigen and antibody test.

am I 90%, 99.99, or 100% clear?

Please.. anyone?

Thanks Teak.

I dont mean to be rude, but are you absolutely sure?

what is worrying me is

1) how accurate is this test: rapid P24 Combined antigen and antibody test -> with negative result at 6 weeks 4 days. It was a finger prick blood test, only little bit of my blood taken. What's the margin of error for this? I mean is it possible that the HIV virus only exist in small amounts in my body now, and "happened" to not be in the small blood volume that was taken for the test.

2) has anyone you know or a documented case that has similar experience as mine, and converted to positive after 6-weeks-negative-result

Thanks

You never had an exposure and you don't need testing.

and another thing, I've read that HIV virus does pass through condom, and the CSW is a thai, if she has it, it's likely she had a subtype E which is more easily transmissible. Please assess my risk with these in mind also

Thanks
