Disinfectant used while retrieving blood.

I was at a test center in India for testing .. The lady who retrieved my blood din't changed the gloves she used for earlier patient who was positive and was there for CD4 count. This really freaked me out. She used a cotton and poured some  disinfectant (she said it was spirit) on cotton . Cleaned the area on my arm and after withdrawing the blood she again used the same cotton to stop the bleading and pressed it hard on the wound. She followed the same procedure for the earlier positive person as well..

  My Questions
1) What if her gloves got some of the contaminated blood from earlier person.
2) Does spirit or disinfectants kill the virus immediately.
3) if not m i at risk.

any help will really be appreciated....

I forgot to mention the symptoms...

exactly on 14th day i experienced frequent growling in my stomach which continued for 5 days ...

Also if anyone can put light on ARS fever it would be helpfull.. As i din't check my temperature ... Is ARS fever detectible... I mean i was warm during 2 to 3 weeks after testing.. Is this fever ????

And the last point my test came back negative.. But the incidence din't made me that happy, i would have been otherwise.

Yup testing protocol leaves a lot to be desired in India (esp. when it comes to changing gloves). What was the name of the lab. Irrespective there was no risk as far as you are concerned.

1) no risk whatsoever
2) disinfectent used
3) what were you thinking, you should have made her change her gloves prior to drawing blood. my take anyways...
4) what was exposure?

change of gloves or the lack of it did not matter. Meth Spirit was used and would deactivate any virus in the unlikely event of the nurse having blood on her fingers and then some how injecting it in your blood stream.

You are clear, as has been suggested ask them to change gloves, i will also in the future
