at 4 weeks (not after) the results can be a good indication. but not definitive. only 3 months post exposure is definitive. it's supposed to do the same thing as 4th gen elisa, and is reliable.

I don't care if the lancet was used before you, you cannot contract HIV from a lancet.

Really??Teak,my only and major concern that bothers me the whole time is that the blood lancet that they sent to me is with a small round cap tight cover on it,which means it doesnt get to expose to the air at ALL,so if this is the case if the needle doesnt get to expose to the air at all,if there was HIV virus on the needle already, would it be still inactive after 40 hours delivery????thank youuuuu Teak im so worried....the blood lancet is like this http://handyremedy.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/bleedinglg.jpg

And after we got it from thos companys who sell it,and we can do the test by ourselves in home and thats why I call it "Home-test kit" sorry that I didnt explain this, and teak could you please take a look of my concern and my questions and my replies to minky917???ur answers would be really helpful for me thank youuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!

what I really mean is that what happen as u can see the needle of the blood lancet didnt get exposed to the air at all, assuming the HIV virus was already on the needle, would it still become inactive in 40 hours?????That what Im really worried about,if it was without the cover and delivered to me I wont have this concern any more but unfurtunelly it got on it...

I know that i might be a little bit overreacting, but the fact that Im going to say is the needle (actually i just realized its not a "needle" thing its a blood lancet and cuz it has a cover on the needle top that I got from the package wasnt exposed to the air at all,it has a really tight  cover on the needle's top! It's like a plastic thing cover all around the needle top!and I dont think it  got to exposed to  the air at all thats why im asking time over time,i have a link here as below,i think after u seen what the blood lancet look like u would understand what my concern is:

dude, listen to me. i didn't realise this is a double post. however, i will answer you one last time because there simply isn't anything else to add.
READ CAREFULLY. even if the needle had been infected with the virus you would never have contracted it because the virus becomes inactive
immediately when exposed to air. I'm talking about seconds.
The thing that is scaring you is that you've heard health workers have sometimes contracted the virus by pricking themselves with needles. (this is totally different from your situation) those needles are syringes and blood gets trapped in the bore of the needle without exposure to air.
even in those circumstances the likelihood of transmission is low.
Believe me. you didn't have a risk. the virus didn't get to you, please don't

let your mind play tricks on you. I can offer no more comments.

thank you sooooo much, cuz i dont know if u guys can buy the home-test kit for personel use in US or not,in china we can totally do that, but as u know my country's medical situation is way behind the others developed country,as I said, like we even have to go to another city to do "DUO" test or RNA or some other tests what really requires professional technics,it really bothers me.but as I mentioned my question about the needle?do you think am i in the risk of getting infected tho??i know i asked the experts already, but im still worried?do you think i still need further tests???
