Risk from blood?

I want to preface this by saying i have ocd and when faced with a situation i try to go against my fears. This is what happened. I got a prescription from The pharmacy and the bag was next to my food. There were these weird red stains on the bag like droplets of blood. I inspected it and touched them and it doesnt make sense what it could be. I still ate my food and touched my mouth anyway and im worried the pharmacist was bleeding because there are these stains all over the bag. Can hiv blood survive on the bag or inside the bag or tiny pockets of air where the bag was sealed and not exposed to the environment that it can infect me?

Hi if you want to know what airborn means if you can log in to medhelp it means you can google it. This forum has answered all your questions if you cannot move on see a doctor or a mental health specialist that deals with ocd. We cannot help you anymore. As even drops of blood scare you. I would advice this out of sympathy go see a doctor know the real risk and move on with your life. Good luck!

What exactly is meant by airborne disease? Like it cant go on indirect objects or something no matter the situation?

because HIV is not an airbourne diseas as paranoidstd has informed you. Unless you had unprotected sex (vaginal or anal), share needles in drug use, or were born with it there is no way you could have gotten HIV.

thanks for the answers so far!

am i at risk here when i put my nose up to the questionable droplets on the bag via mucous membrane via nose transmission? I still couldnt ignore my medication inside and still had to pull it out from the bag. should i forget about this considering it wasnt a hypodermic needle and thus the virus cant be harbored in a bag or on a bag anyway?

thank you!

Part of ocd treatment is to not let fears get the best of you so instead of me saying what if this is blood i sucked it up and went against my fears and touched and smelled it. I didnt go and snort it like a cocaine user. When i said people have gotten this route of transmission i meant ive read like studies where occupational health workers have a risk of like .09% of mucous membrane exposure. What did you mean by i should have snorted the blood? Im confused. I guess what i thought is that since even if it was blood it was already in the environment thus i would be fine

Why did you snort fresh blood from a hiv infected person? And I do not see a reason for this to be true. People may claim to be infected in diffrent ways other than penetrative sex. Want to know the reality? Because people lie and will not admit to greater risk exposures. And theoretically you should be snorting the blood to be a potential risk. Remember If nasal passages were a route of transmission. Then that would mean that hiv is airborn like the conmon cold. Then we will all have HIV by now. Suck it up and know the real risk. Dont let your OCD control you.

I smelled the droplets to see if it was anything suspicious at first.  but would mucous membrane exposure of potential blood going through my nose be a cause for concern? Ive read people have gotten infected this route. Maybe im overthinking this as i am aware the methods of transmission are sharing needles and unprotected sex. Just wasnt sure how much blood can warrant infection, especially if it went into my nose or any other mucous membrane.

No risk. You digestive system will eliminate the infection.
