Unprotected sex with a transsexual csw

Hello doctor on late October 2012 I had unprotected anal sex with a transsexual csw she is mtf I was the top when the sexual encounter began I had a condom on but as we were having sex the condom broke and I took it off before I could put another one on she told me to continue and I agreed and continued without using any protection. The sexual encounter lasted more than an hour with about 10 min of protected sex and the rest of the time unprotected. I did not ejaculate inside of her instead I ejaculated on her lower back area. after we finish she asked me if I wanted to take a shower and I agreed before I went into the shower I felt the need to pee I had a lot of burning and I notice that I had a tear on my penis, I am not circumcised. As I was taking the shower I noticed that the tear was bleeding I know I got this while having anal sex. Since that happen I have been living in constant fear because I know that transsexuals and gay man are at high risk of having HIV than others. I have gotten tested for HIV since then I will tell you my test and the dates. The test I did were the rapid HIV test the ones that you can use an oral swab or finger prick and it takes 20 minutes to get the results, I had them done at a free clinic for gays and lesbians called Bienestar. All test were finger prick I rather used blood than an oral swab I had a test done at 6 weeks, 92 days, 109 days, 175 days and 182 days they were all negative. Still worried I had a traditional antibody test with blood drawn from my vein at 189 days and it was also negative. I want to know if I can trust those results in other words am I HIV negative and can I stop worrying. Also I have remained abstinent since October 2012.

Welcome to our Forum.  You are correct than men who have sex with men and transexuals have a somewhat higher rate of HIV than heterosexual men and wommen.  Despite that, most MSM and transexuals do not have HIV.  You did the right thing to use a condom and should have put another one on when your condom broke.  Desoite this you can be confident that you did not get HIV.  Each of your many tests taken at more than 8 weeks (56 days) was defintive.  At this time you can stop testing and believe your test results,.  Your tests provide proof that you were not infected.

I hope that this informatin is helpful to you.  EWH

Dr. Hook thank you once again after having all those negative result and your explanation of the result I got from the antibody test in which I had blood drawn from my vein I feel great. Dr. Hook thank you for interpreting those results for me I do not have the experience and knowledge that you have and did not understand them. I can finally trust that I do not have HIV and I can continue with my life and put this episode behind me. I will protect myself in the future and will not make the mistake of having unprotected sex again. Dr. Hook thank you for the amazing work you do and for being part of a website that actually provides answers that make sense and actually help people.

The results take quite a long to time to say that no antibodies to HIV-1 or HIV-2 were detected in your blood.  EWH

Doctor thank you for your response I feel much better now and I will trust my results and will not making a mistake like that ever again as I mentioned I have been in constant fear since that happened and now I can start to live again and also stop thinking that every little symptom that I have is HIV. I was hoping you could help me understand the results I got from my vein blood drawn antibody test. I will copy and paste the here.

Test Name Result Flag Reference Range Lab
Panel 083824
HIV 1/O/2 Abs-Index Value <1.00 <1.00 SO
Index Value: Specimen reactivity relative to the negative cutoff.
HIV 1/O/2 Abs, Qual Non Reactive Non Reactive SO
One Specimen Identifier
One Specimen Identifier Comment SO
The specimen received included only one patient identifier on the
primary collection container. Our laboratory accrediting agency
states "All primary specimen containers must be labeled with 2
identifiers at the time of collection."

Would you please clarify the results so I will better understand them?
