Hello,
Here's a question for all of you who know about the ins and outs of transmission. I work with mentally handicapped adults, and today at work a patient ripped his feeding tube (known as a G-tube) in a violent incident. I got some of the secretions that were on the feeding tube on my hand and a few minutes later scratched the inside of my nose (no! I was not picking ;) I did not draw any blood that I can identify, but I noticed that my nail was pointy (that's why I realized I scratched myself). I wanted to see if this type of thing would be considered risky. I do know the basics of HIV transmission, but something this specific is outside my knowledge. Anyone have a clue? If it is even the slightest minute chance, I will consider testing in three months, just to be safe. Thank you.
