ars timing??

I was under the impression that the only symptoms a person would experience within the first month or so after being infected w/ hiv is the ARS symptoms (flu, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, night sweats, etc) and they usually come about 2-3 weeks after infection and last over a week.   then after that, there wouldn't be any symptoms related to HIV until it had progressed into advanced hiv (aids).  is this correct?  as far as lymph nodes swelling, when would this happen and how long would it last for? is yeast in the armpit a symptom of early hiv, or advanced hiv? i was on an antibiotic at the time of the yeast, but i've never had yeast before in my life. my possible exposure was aug 12.  i had a negative blood test done for herpes and hiv at 12 weeks, but i'm still nervous...i'm going to retest next month at the 6 month mark.

Yes it's safe to say they are not related.

Okay, because i'm now experiencing a blocked nazal passage which has led to a sore, not swolen, right lymph node in my neck... this has also caused me to feel fatigued almost fluish... for lack of a better word... I don't or didn't at any stage have a sore throat, swolen lymph nodes anywhere else than my right neck, no flu symptoms, cold night sweats or rashes.  But nevertheless, I'm losing it with stress that I might be infected.  I tested negative about 2 weeks before my night of stupidity.  It has been just over six weeks since intercourse... so considering that ARS occurs between 2 - 4 weeks is it safe to say that these symptoms of mine are unrelated?

I will ofcourse get tested in 6 weeks time but at the moment the stress this is causing is almost debilitating...

Thank you in advance for your comments

ARS if one has symptoms of it happens 2-4 weeks post infection and lasts 1-2 weeks. No it does not come on after seroconversion.

Hi, I had a single act of unprotected sex with a female who's status is unknown to me about six weeks ago.  I have since read that what you metion here as ARS would appear immediately after hiv infection.  Does this time period refer to immediately after the sex act or the seroconvertion period that takes place between 6 - 12 weeks.

In other words how long after intercourse would these symptoms appear?

You are right, ARS happen 2-4 weeks after infection and lasted for 2-3 weeks and then seroconversion take place...After that maybe you can get glandular fever (MULTIPLE lymph node enlargement+fever) in median 2 years, but more often there's no symptoms for 5-10 years and AIDS (if let untreated)...
If you have lymph nodes swelling, it could happen with any other infection...Yeast infection (candidiasis) only happen in tha advanced stage never in early stage, and usually happens in your mouth not your armpits, if you have it now maybe because you're on a broad spectrum antibiotic or there's a lack of hygiene (sorry if this offend you in any way, but it's true)...But hey, what's to worry? You've tested neg on the 12 week, you should woohoo-ing right now...Unless you have hipogamaglobulinemia or taking imunosupressant agent, or you have unprotected sex  or shared needle when injecting drugs with someone who's HIV+ (definitive) or youre on PEP, then testing at 6 months mark is warranted...
Bottom line is if your risk is not one of the above than you are NEGATIVE! Period...
Stop worrying and start a new life, promise yourself not to take risk again...
GOD Bless!

unprotected vaginal and anal sex with uncircumsized male from metropolitan area.  thing is, he sent me a photocopy of his HIV results that were taken beginning of november and they were negative   (we had sex midaugust).  i worry that he somehow "edited" the results, but that's just me being paranoid, it doesn't look like it's been altered in any way, looks like a legit photocopy. i've had all sorts of weird changes in my body since then and ppl keep telling me it's from stress, but i don't know. i'm still worried and anxious to get my 6 month test out of the way.
