HIV Combo Test after 25 days

Hi, I need your advice and evaluation about my case. I had a motorbike accident in 22 Dec 2015 and after the accident i saw some faint bloodstains on my right hand. I didn't know that bloodstains is my blood or blood of the person who crashed with me. After that, i arrived home and wash my hand with only water. Then, after minutes or hours, I scratched my eye with that hand. After the accident 25 days, on 16 Jan 2016, i took the HIV combo test and the result came out as negative (s/co: 0,300). I wanna ask that can I conclude that i'm not infected? Do i have to re-test after 12 weeks? Hope to see your answer soon. Thank you

Hi alderick84,
Thank you so much for your answer. At that time, i didn't have any bleeding wound or scar on my hands, and i didn't know the one crashed with me was HIV positive or not. I just feel worry and went to the hospital and took the test. I afraid that when i was home, i just wash my hands by water without soap or stuff like that, and after that i scratched my eye by that hand, which, i think, would put me into to a risk. How about your idea ?

The event you describe is no risk, As I told you, HIV virus is very fragile outside the human body and it doesn't last very long unlike other viruses like the flu.

There are no documented cases of HIV transmission by something like eye scratching, you have nothing to worry about.

Do you know or suspect that the person that was with you is HIV positive? HIV is very fragile outside the body, only fresh, open and actively bleeding wounds a viable as entry points, not scratches o dry wounds.

According to CDC your test is almost conclusive and unlike to change, CDC recommends confirming that with any test 12 weeks after exposure.

But I think you weren't exposed to a risk in the first place.
