partialy slipped condom but with herpes. hiv?

Hi Dr. I had a protected sex with a sex worker early this month. During the penetration i lose my erection. When i remove my penis. My condom slip partially cover the mid part of my shaft and head. The girl is very wet. I m a hsv carrier myself and had just recover 1 week prior the incident. There was no sore at my penis shaft. 2-3 weeks later i run down with a runny nose, itchy throat and mouth ulcer. I m very concern sir. Do you think i need a hiv test for this? Does my symptom prompt something that i might have hiv? I m super worried sir.

Welcome to the Forum. I'll be pleased to comment.  Condoms are the single most effective means of preventing HIV transmission and are highly effective. As long as condoms are worn throughout the sexual encounter, do not break, and cover the tip of the penis they do their job.  If condoms slip down on the penis during sex, they still do their job and are protective.  When condoms break, they tear wide open so there is no doubt that they broke- condoms do not need to be tested to be sure that they did not break.

From what you say, you have no reason to worry.  Most commercial sex workers do not have HIV and even if your partner did, most unprotected sex acts do not lead to infection.  Your use of a condom makes your exposure safe sex and not something to worry about.

Your recent symptoms are not typical of recently acquired HIV and that you recently had a recurrence of your HSV does not change your risk.  I would not worry if I were you and see no  medical reason for testing related to the event you describe.

I hope these comments are helpful. EWH
