it sounds, as your doctor has already told you, like you over interpreted your rapid test. Given your anxiety, you should let professionals do and interpret your tests.
I urge you to believe your subsequent negative tests and assume that you do not have HIV.
There is no need for a PCR test
Low red blood counts (anemia) have no effect on the outcome of HIV tests.
This will end this thread. EWH
Dear Dr,
I have booked an appr with a councellor who specializes in health anxiety.
Can i ask you a last question pls and feel free to end this thread and ignore me after this.
I am under the impression that there was a faint line on the antogen part of my rapid test (85 days)
After this test i had 4 negative duos
Can i assume that if there was a faint line is indeed false since no lab duo identified any infection?
Do i have to take a pcr to confirm?
May i also ask if low red blood count can impact the tests?
Please reply to my last comment and i promise u i wont bother you again! Until i meet with the councellor anxiety is killing me and i make very negative thoughts about myself
Thank you so much Dr. Hope i am negative without any doubt. I hate myself for posing a risk to my health.
I agree that you need assistance. The choice of a mental health professional is a personal matter. You could call a local HIV assistance agency and ask them for advice about well informed counselors. EWH
Dr Hook,
Pls advise whether there are are specialists who can help me with hiv anxiety. I had another 2 tests
1 rapid duo - thought was weakly reactive but dr said im para oid and is negative
1 normal lab duo at 12 weeks which came back as not detected
I want to stop testing but not sure how i will believe my results! From your experience whocould help me with thsi.
Pls reply anxiety is damagig my health dr
Patience please. Candida is easily demonstraated in the laboratory and if your doctor cultured for it and it were present, the lab would have detected it. EWH
Dear Dr. hook,
Could u pls comment on my last note?
Dear Doctor,
Thank you for your comment and reassurance. Just a clarification if you happen to know. Question 3 implies that I had throat swab and tongue swab which came back normal. If I indeed have thrush would the swab result be normal flora?thanks
Welcome to the Forum. I'll be pleased to comment. The exposures you describe put you at almost no risk for HIV and your tests prove without any doubt that you did not get HIV from the exposures that you describe. It is time to stop testing for HIV.
HIV is acquired very rarely through performing oral sex on an infected partner. You do not know that your partner had HIV and in fact, most commercial sex workers do not. Even if your partner did happen to have HIV however, the estimated risk for getting HIV from performing oral sex on an infected partner is less than 1 infection in 10,000 exposures. There are only a handful of cases of HIV described in the scientific literature where persons acquired HIV from performing oral sex. Finally and perhaps most definitively, your tests absolutely prove that you did not get HIV form the exposures that you have described. Further testing related to that exposure is a waste of time and money- the results will not change.
In answer to your specific questions:
1) can i stop testing for hiv? Ive spent almost 1000 pounds and i feel emotionally exhausted.
Yes, no need at all for further testing.
2)since i had so many tests one after another, can this affect my blood quality thus making hiv non detectable?
No, repeat testing would not affect your test results in any way.
3)if i had candidiasis would swabs come back as normal. My gp says now that i must have acid reflux. Is this a symptom of hiv?
No oral candida would not affect test results. Person with HIV do have more oral candida that people who do not have HIV but most persons with oral candida do not have HIV. Your tests prove you do not have HIV.
4) i never had these strNge symptoms in my life and i am wondering whether excessive 3 month anxiety could cause this?my blood tests are perfect.
Anxiety can certain amplify symptoms.
Your symptoms do not sound like HPV or herpes either and I would not recommend worrying or testing for them.
Finally, yes, test results ALWAYS overrule history and symptoms. The symptoms are non-specific and the test are definitive.,
I hope that this comment is helpful to you. It is time for you to stop worrying and move forward without concern for HIV related to the exposure you describe. EWH
Dear Doctors,
Do tests overrule even the most risky exposures and most suggestive symptoms?
Forgot to ask. Do my symptoms sound like herpes or HPV? All other stds came back negative
