HIV inquires

Dear Dr., I know that my question is repeated but kindly requesting your expert opinion, back on April 4th I had a sex intercourse with SW in Dubai. Unprotected oral for less than a minute and protected vaginal then anal for about 3 minutes then I changed the condom for no reason and continue with vaginal sex until ejaculation. condom didn't Broken for both time
I tested negative at the 5 weeks and 5 days mark with Elisa test for HIV 1 and 2 and tested negative for the same day with HIV 1 and 2 Ag as well. My question is this test is reliable or not on this time also I would like to inform you that I’m feeling that I’m having all HIV related ARS except fever. Thanks for your help and your great support

Welcome to the forum.

For sure you did not catch HIV from the exposures described.  First, HIV is uncommon in Dubai sex workers (according to emails I have exchanged with an STD/HIV expert there).  Second, condoms work, and unprotected sex carries little or no risk for HIV.  Third, absence of fever is strong evidence against ARS -- so even if your other symptoms are typical, it would be unlikely ARS is the cause.

Fourth and most important, the HIV tests overrule all other factors, as long as they are done sufficiently long after the last possible exposure.  Even if your exposure had been high risk (which it wasn't) or if your symptoms were suggestive of ARS (as just discussed, they were not), the combination of negative tests you have had prove without doubt that you are not infected.

See a doctor if your symptoms continue.  But they are not due to HIV, and for sure your tests are reliable.  You don't need any more tests.

I hope this has helped.  Best wishes--  HHH, MD
