hey thanks alot man, i appreciate your help i am now keeping busy reading about the market crash... ironically its good for me
The best advice I can give you is not to stress out, seriously. The chance of contracting HIV from a single heterosexual exposure is very low. I had many HIV symptoms, and so did my girlfriend... Just got a negative result 18 weeks post exposure - the last 5 months have been a consistent and unnecessary hell for me and 5 months that I shall never get back. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT make any assumptions based on symptoms. Wait 3 months and have a test, in the meantime keep yourself busy and don't think about it, knowing that the odds are all in your favour. PS. All it takes is a properly used condom to avoid all this suffering, remember that in the future... I know I will. Good luck.
Hi Paley,
Don't get stressed, test at 3 months period....
Treat the chlamydia meanwhile also.
Thanks and Regrads,
FWK
"HIV develop some early symptoms, usually two to four weeks after they were infected. This illness is termed "acute retroviral syndrome" or "primary HIV infection." The syndrome is similar to the flu. The most common symptoms are fever, sore throat, swollen lymph nodes and a rash. The rash usually consists of small raised or flat lesions scattered all over the body, sometimes on the palms and soles. Ulcers can also develop -- particularly in the mouth, but sometimes on the skin and genitals." extracted from http://yourtotalhealth.ivillage.com/early-symptoms-hiv-infection.html
i had flu on the 10th week, and thats it, now i have a little sore throat but that is probably due to smoking... some websites say it is 6 weeks to 3 months that you have early symptoms... its really stressing me out...
damn i had flu on the 10th week... i am damn scared now, i read that a flu like symtom is one of the early symtoms of HIV.. i dun have any lymph nodes... now i am really scared to go for the 3 month test... i cant face this reality
Chlamydia is known as a "silent" disease because about three quarters of infected women and about half of infected men have no symptoms. If symptoms do occur, they usually appear within 1 to 3 weeks after exposure.
Hi,
Clhamydia symptoms appear within in as little as 7 days after infection and your system already picks up the bacteria and can be detected on a urine test unlike HIV which cannot be detected within this short amonth of time.
You can contract a number of STDs at the same time. Or you can contract HIV without any other STD.
is there any study which has been done to find out if HIV and Chlamydia can happen together
i took a rapid test on the 4th week it came out negative
Of course you don't understand - you haven't been to medical school, have you? The point is, there is no need to try to understand, just trust the doctors. It takes more than 2 weeks for the immune response to HIV to get detected.
Your post is not very clear, a lot of stuff about running and not a lot of actual information. I'm not sure when you got your HIV test. If it was at 2 weeks, then those results are meaningless, if it was at 4 weeks, then that negative result is very reassuring. Regardless, take another test at 3 months. In my opinion you can expect a negative result.
what i do not understand is since my body was able to react to the chlamydia infection within 2 weeks. Does that mean my immune system would also be able to react to the HIV virus at the same time?
During that period from1st july to 1 august, had been doing alot of running. I usually only run 5 km on monday wednesday and friday but i was training for a Half Marathon (21KM) and was running about 10 to 15 KM every monday wednesday and friday.
Does that have any effect on my Rapid test result or my immune system detecting the HIV virus?
The probability is not high, especially since the prevalence of HIV is not high in the Philippines, as far as I know. You are definitely doing the right thing by getting tested. The odds are very much in your favor, no need to be worried.
Yes i already know that i have commited such a stupid mistake. I will be taking the test in 4 weeks time which is the 3rd month of my window period. What could really help me now is to know the probability of me getting HIV
You put yourself at risk by having unprotected vaginal sex. You took the HIV test to early to diagnose your recent exposure. You need to test 3 months post exposure to obtain your conclusive test result. The window period for HIV is from four weeks to 3 months.
