Nervous / Concerned and Stressed

I am a male and had a brief situation with another male. Want to know my risk status and if its just my emotions / guilt getting the best of me.

We met up April 5th 2013

1) He did tell me he was clean.
2) We kissed, not deep, a little tongue.
3) After kissing I performed oral sex with a condom on. I performed it very briefly before my emotions took over and wanted to stop. I checked condom afterwards when he left. Filled it with water... NO BREAKS.
4) On May 8th 31 days post exposure I got a HIV RNA 1 test. Results game back Negative.

Can you please answer on the list above?

Also,  today (69 days post potential exposure) I saw my family Doctor to have him do blood.  Results will be back Wednesday.  He seemed more concerned about the kissing.  He feels 99.99 % sure that you can not get HIV from kissing.  So that .01% freaks me.

Lastly....  1) Would the 69 days be conclusive or should I test again in 3 weeks for true conclusive which would be
                    90 days.
                2) Is there any other "best" test to take now.

Thank you,

Concerned / Paraonoid

Last answer.  No risk means no risk. Repeat questions are a waste of your time and mine.  There is no need for testing at all.  If you needed testing however, a test result at 69 days would be defintive.

Thank you Doctor for the response and do feel very confident that all is ok.  I guess I am just spooked by my doctor not being 100% sure that the kissing was 100 % safe.

I know there was no blood evident, he was chewing a minty gum and I had used mouth wash earlier.  I did not floss or brush.  My gums and teeth are normal.  PLUS MOST of ALL THERE SHOULD BE THE RELIANCE ON HIM BEING HONEST and CLEAN.

I am sorry to disturb you when there are others who require your knowledge.

The wait is bad.  Wednesday can not come quick enough. (And you feel that a negative result 69 days out is conclusive?)

My promise to myself and family is to never experiment again.

Less Concerned Now....

Welcome to our Forum.  The exposure that you describe is not associated with risk for HIV.  Your partner told you that he did not have HIV and that is probably true- most people do not and most people do tell the truth.  Further, even if he was, HIV is not transmitted by kissing, even deep kissing with exchange of saliva.  Similarly, there is no risk for HIV from condom protected sex.

The HIV RNA test you describe is not recommended for HIV diagnosis but this is because of the problem with occasional false positive results.  Your negative HIV RNA test is strong evidence that you were not infected.  Similarly, I am confident that when you get your blood test results on Wednesday you will find that you do not have HIV.  The results of your testing at that time will be definitive and no further testing will be needed.

I hope this comment is helpful. There is no need for concern.  EWH
