HIV RNA QL TMA test accuracy at the 8th day?

I completed at HIV RNA QL TMA test on March 28 from a possible exposure on March 20 (8 days after) and the results came back as: Not Detectable.( This test was performed using the APTIMA(R) HIV-RNA Qualitative Assay (Gen-Probe).) But I did test positive for HSV 1 now my local health department is calling and I know I got the test did at a private clinic. Do I need to worry about this RNA test if the accuracy is between 7- 10 days? Why is the health department calling me!?

Hi, Demarcus,

The quickest and most effective way to find out why the Health Department is calling you is to contact them.

They could not tell me why. IF my HIV test is negative, why would they call me?
I'm seeing this 5 days later so perhaps you already called as advised by the moderator.
Unless this test is different from what I've read, 8 days is not reliable and perhaps they want to set you up with a future test. They told you it was negative over the phone so that is the result.
But IMO not conclusive.
