Extremely worried of HIV exposure

Dear all forum-veterans,

Here's my situation:
Four days back I had unprotected encounter with a woman who I met through a good friend (girl) of mine. The unprotected encounter lasted 10 seconds and I pulled out hurriedly after that. On later questioning, this girl said that she has had a loyal boyfriend before with whom she broke up in Dec'10 and he was the only person with whom she had unprotected sex. She's an office-going single woman in early 30's and am in late 20's. What are the chances of me contracting the HIV. I'm pretty stressed out as I've never had unprotected intercourse before. She tells she's completely safe, but you can't really trust anyone's words on this matter. I feel so regretful and scared now. Please help.

Take a p24 combo  test. It has a shorter window period, however the result won't be conclusive until you test again at 3months.Hiv is never diagnosed on the basis of symptoms alone.

thanks all.

what are the odds of me contracting the disease btw? are there any symptoms i should look for at this stage? also, which is the earliest test that can be done which can give me some confidence. 6 weeks or 12 weeks are too far away

You can get tested before 3months.A 6week result is a good indicator, but as you It,s not conclusive. It may give you the confidence you seek, though.
