I read that report it says "it is highly unlikely you can get infected" from this home test...so it is possible ??
can a person still infect if they havent tested positive or seroconverted yet but are still in the window period ( very recently infected)....when is someone most infectious ?
Would it be possible to contract any kind of blood to blood diseases from a home test kit? I'm very worried about the fact that I used an unapproved DIY test kit a couple of months back.. I tested again at 11 weeks after i took that test with a proper test in a lab and the result was negative too but I'm concerned that this home test kit may have been dangerous. What do you think?
you have already been answered regarding this.
keep questioning it and i will report you for abusing the forum...your choice!!!!!
Move on.. You didn't have a risk of contracting HIV from an HIV test.
so are these real proteins or synthetic ones
Manufacturers use (P/GP?) proteins from the virus that any AntiHIV antibodies present in the person's blood sample target.
Check with the mirates own site;
FAQ > HIV, Aids, and the Test > About the use and test result of the MiraTes HIV HomeTest
Is there any HIV present in the test and can I be infected by the test?
There is no HIV present in the test and you cannot be infected by a new unused test.
nothing we say is going to convince you otherwise...that is what OCD is all about. test at 12 weeks if you have a concern.
so whys does the health inspectorate say that ?
These HIV tests are purely chemical tests. No virus is needed on the kit for a reaction. The only virus would come from the person being tested.
I think you are confusing hiv kits with getting a vaccines. For vaccines, you will be deliberately be infected with a weaken or dead pathogen to make you immune against the same pathogen.
but the health inspectorate says " I cannot give you full reassurance"...surely this means they are unsure whethe it can or cant and this is from a government department !
yes it only says mostly...implying there maybe some live virus...also its a home test ( like an elisa one) you get result in 15 mins at home
Mostly, non-infectious parts of the (dead) virus are used, or antibodies (a product from the immune system that fights diseases) are used.
stop obsessing on this...geeeeeeeeeez!!!! go to a lab and get your results.
I then received a reply from Dutch Health Inspectorate which is even more worrying not reassuring me that you could get infected with HIV from test!.........
"The MiraTes HIV home test does not comply with these strict European regulations and does not contain a CE-mark. Therefore, it is not allowed to be sold in Europe. We simply cannot ascertain if the device gives a correct result, is effective, accurate, safe, etc. I think it is very unlikely that you get infected by a test. Mostly, non-infectious parts of the (dead) virus are used, or antibodies (a product from the immune system that fights diseases) are used. However, I cannot give you full reassurance, as the test does not comply with the regulations and has not been tested extensively according to the requirements that apply to this test."
how did you get that from what i just wrote???
hell no they dont use a live virus in the kits. you ***** your finger and put blood on a piece of paper. it is sent back where it is analyzed in the lab.
so they actually use real virus in these kits ?
your fears are irrational...
the hiv virus could NOT remain active in those conditions and think of the liability "IF" it could.
so in these kits I believe it was mirates one is there any actual virus..how does it work?
These guys are just covering their *****. You can not get hiv from a kit. Slice your arm open and rub the kit all over it. It still wouldn't be possible.
well the dont say one way or the other ......"To the best of our knowledge it is not possible to get infected or become ill by performing a test. Tests usually do not contain live or viable virusses or other pathogens......and they are not sure if they can harm patient"
do any of these home kits on internet contain real hiv then
i dont see where they were vague.
no...you cannot get hiv from taking a home test.
