I think I contracted HIV from a prostitute with unprotected oral and protected sex.

A month ago I went traveling and paid a prostitute for sex. I received unprotected oral sex and then she put on a condom for me, then we had vaginal sex. It was my first time so I came after 10 poundings.

2 weeks later I started having cold symptoms, though I didn't have a high grade fever nor skin rash, but my temperature hovered around 99. I had night sweat, constant chills and swollen lymph nodes under my jaw and behind my ears. I did flu shot today so it can't be a flu. But I have been having symptoms for 2 weeks, which is definitely the worst common cold I have ever experienced. I went to see a doctor but I was told HIV doesn't transmit this way. But after googling I think it's definitely statistically possible, and I may just be the unlucky 1 case out of 1 billion protected sexual activities.

I am too afraid to do an HIV test and I think I am still inside the window period. But I think this is it, I got HIV from unprotected oral sex or sex with a condom. The swollen lymph nodes must be from HIV infection because I have never noticed them when I had just cold or flu, and I had flue shot this year so it can't be a flu. I am only 24 years but this is what I get from a stupid decision.... I am not sure how I should tell my parents...

You were never exposed to HIV because you used a condom and it didn't break. HIV experts, I mean the ones who actually know what they are talking about, have stated repeatedly that condoms provide an effective barrier against HIV infection and furthermore that consistent use of condoms for sexual activities is how people can prevent the spread of HIV to others.

You're barking up the wrong tree. All this time you're wasting focusing on HIV when that's not even the problem. You'll never get well if you don't explore what's actually truly wrong with you and keep looking in the wrong direction. You are choosing to stay ill at this point and that's on you.

Recieving unprotected oral sex is not a risk. Also, condom is an efficient barrier to HIV transmission.

You are being paranoid for no good reason, there was never a scope of transmission. No one ever in the history of this disease has acquired this virus from recieving oral sex or using a condom correctly.

Your symptoms are leaning towards classic anxiety, you need an attention of a therapist at the earliest for them to help you to get rid of your irrational fear.

You don't need to test. You don't have an HIV concern.

Hi Mike, thanks for the response. But there is another post saying transmission via protected sex:
https://www.medhelp.org/posts/HIV--Living-With/HIV-Positive-without-any-explanation-or-High-risk-activities/show/3046795
And maybe there are more, it's just never studied by CDC yet. And maybe I am another one.... Also the HIV virus mutates all the time, in various ways in different people. Isn't it totally possible that virus mutates and gets more durable over the past 2 decades, and now they can be transmitted via saliva. Maybe science just hasn't found out yet, but it will soon because of subjects like me and the other guy in the post..... Knowing that my case will help advance the HIV study makes me feel a little better....
What makes you think organisations specifically created for this purpose wouldnt have thought what you re stating? Lets say science hasnt found it yet but theres a possibilty. DO YOU THINK RENOWNED SCIENTISTS WOULD HAVE IGNORED A POSSIBILITY? assuming youre not a scientist , if it came to your mind, 100% sure it would have popped in their mind too. Stop worrying recieving oral sex no way possess risk. If youre still worried get tested. You ll be negative. Keep in mind the flu shot may cause a false positive, talk to your doctor about it.
This is internet and people can profess any thing they would want to. I remember that poster not being able to provide an accurate detail about his exposure, either he doesn't recollect his exposure or he is avoiding to give out correct details, this isn't something new to this or other forums, people have consciously or mistakenly not provided details of their exposure.

Your case is simple, there is no black or white, you used a condom - you were safe. See a therapist for your anxiety, I have seen numerous people here complaining about the same symptoms, in the same tone in the last decade. You can't test positive. You weren't exposed.
