Is this consistant with hiv infection?

I had unprotected sex with a girl the november before last. I didn't think about it at the time but it worries me now. Now I don't get out much due to certain circumstances and most of the things I feel aren't abnormal seeing as i've never really been healthy and suffer from psychiatric things like ptsd, depression etc. Its not abnormal for me to feel sick or tired or sore on a regular basis I have my whole life. In late november I my throat hurt I went to the doctor they looked at my throat and saw the exudate. It was written on my discharge as exudative tonsillitis/pharyngitis at the time i was given a shot of penicillin and a dose of a liquid steroid to counteract the swelling in my throat. The medication seemed to be helping but 2 weeks later it came back. I went to the doctor again this time they did a throat culture that came back positive for strep. I was given a different antibiotic and another dose of steroids. There was also a mono spot completed at the time. The mono spot came back negative and I was discharged again with the same diagnosis exudative tonsillitis/pharyngitis. This time the medication worked. What im wondering is, is this sort of thing consistent with the acute infection phase of hiv? I know the only way to know for sure is to get tested. Im also wondering if it was the acute infection would the strep respond to antibiotics at all or since hiv is a virus would it not respond?

hiv is not diagnosed by symptoms, or lack thereof.

testing is the only way to know your status...not much else to say.

Thank you for your response I really appreciate it. I know there's no way to know for sure unless im tested. I just haven't worked up the courage to go get tested yet. I don't remember the timeline perfectly but I know I had recurrent strep infections that were successfully treated after two separate doses of antibiotics. I worried quite frequently because the mono spot came back and I read somewhere that the first sign of infection is consistent with a mono like illness. Thanks again.

your "symptoms" are not indicative of hiv infection.  symptoms of early infection come at 2-4 weeks post infection and last for 1-2 weeks.

if you had unprotected vaginal / anal intercourse, you can test now for a conclusive result.

What was your risk ? Unprotected Vaginal/ Anal or ORAL sex.

If unprotected ORAL no reason to worry.. if unprotected Vaginal/Anal.. go for a  HIV testing post three months
