MEIA Versua ELISA

hi all, i went to have my HIV blood test and the result is POSITIVE for Elisa Method while NEGATIVE for MEIA method. Afterward, the doctor recommend me to WB test. I am really worry waiting for the result. Here are some of my questions:
1. Can you explain how these two tests show different result?
2. Does this mean i just recently infected that is why Elisa method pick up (but i never had any sex in the past 6 months)?
3. If the WB is negative, what is the chance of infection? What about indeterminate?

Thank ahead for promt reply cause i am really worry and can't sleep at all....

Congratulations on your negative result! If you ELISA would be positive again depends on the reason it got positive this time.... if it was a lab error, than it wouldn't.... if it was due to a cross reaction with some other antibodies similar to those of hiv then perhaps.... either way, since your WB was negative, don't worry about it!

A false positive could be due to many things.Lab error could be one of the possibility. You have to wait for your WB result. I'm really hoping that to be negative.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers

Now I am getting marry soon that is why i went to have my blood test. This is the reason why i dont understand that Elisa Test come up positive. Can you tell me the chance that this type of false positive situation occur??? (i had Hepatitis B vacination almost 10 year ago, can this be the trigger???)

Solomich,

It seems like you got a false positive, your doc has done the right thing by doing a WB

If your WB is negative, you are confirmed negative.

Can you please tell me, what was your exposure?
