Multiple partners, protected, symptoms

Hello doctor,

recently I had multiple gay sex encounters - 3 anal intercourses where I was the bottom, and 2-3 quick quick orals with me as the one performing the act. Each time a condom was used, inspected and put on by me. With second man unfortunately the condom was a bit large so it kept rolling down. It didn't slip off but maybe there was some contact between his penis and the base of my rectum (not sure, but maybe).

During every intercourse I kept checking the condom, and other than the mentioned incident, everything was fine.

It has now been 20 days since the first intercourse and 1 since the last. I have been having a sore entire week, and now I seem to have developed a lump on the right side of my neck, just below the jaw. And I got scared and started poking and touching it and now it definitely feels like there is something there. It's not a hard lump, but a lump it is. And I just had diarrhea.

What is your honest thought about my risk? I know a lot of the HIV infections are because of the tender tissue inside the rectum and the friction with penis, but could it also be the same at the base of the rectum?

Thanks for the answer. Yes, the head stayed covered entire time. I kept checking  a lot.

I am very careful about having safe sex, but unfortunately after I always get paranoid - and sometimes develop symptoms.

Oral sex would have never exposed you to HIV, but it can expose you to other infections. Check the std forum to get accurate information.

Regarding the other intercourses, if condoms were used, there was no risk at all, unless they broke. You said that maybe one of them moved a  bit. Only the head has to be covered to avoid the risk. If you don't remember if there was contact inside your body with the other man's penis head, you should test.

If you go for a duo combo ag/ab test, your result will be accurate 28 days after the last exposure. If you go for a normal antibodies test (finger-prick) it will be accurate 3 months after the exposure.

All the best.
