Hi,
I am a 43 years old male, I have been quite healthy, however from the beggining of this year I have had recurrent sore throat that have needed anti biotic treatment. For the past 10 days what started as a sore throat has turned into pneumonia. Fortunately the antibiotic given by my doc has worked and am recovering.
The above health episodes have put my mind on overdrive about my risk of hiv and my anxiety has grown to such an extent that I am able to sleep or eat properly.
I have had straight sexual encounters(unprotected) with a number of partners (status unknown) about 18 or 20 years ago when I was studying and before that, the last being 18 years ago.
Apart from that, I have had unprotected sex with a colleague about 10 or 11 years ago. I am almost sure she is not infected since she is happily married with a heathy child and they have now moved to another country where you need to get tested before you get a residence permit.
Besides the above, I have not had unprotected sex of any sort except with my wife (married for about 16 years) who is perfectely healthy.
Please let me know what is my risk level and if my recent health problems are a direct consequence of that.
