Please help and thank you

I could go on and on about symptoms. 48 -72 hours acute dry sinus infection, headache ,FATIGUE, 3 WEEK SORE THROAT.

My only syptoms I have not had is Fever and Body ache

Cephlexin is hopefully the cause of my thrush on my tounge at week 5 and slight blotchy red rash around neck. Meds  for mouth prescribed and I am trying to be rational.

Two new hard skin lesions on upper fingerknuckle has me at my wits end.
Regardless of syptoms here is the exposure

Possible breastmilk and a small cut on outer lip. Ridiculous..... I know but hopefully I will not have the dubious distinction. She touched me .NO secretions........doc how could this be ?

11 day PCR .....neg  22 dat RNA... 29 day PCR /antibody ( labcorp ) .....neg

awaiting 5 week and two day and weastern blot by doc.

Question (1)  Where in the US or anywhere can I get a 4th generation DUO test or the new Abbot test ?

Question (2)  If  I had some mouth yeast symptoms at the 28 day test why didn't it show on the DNA ..or antibody?

Question (3) If  acute symptoms existed why wouldnt they have shown on the antibody test.
It is just so amazing how the testing guys say your " conclusive " after the 29 day DNA Test. Doc Im really afraid and I do not mean to waste your time.

Thank you

The entire thread will be deleted if you continue to post anxiety-driven comments like the one I just erased.  This is not a psychological counseling service and this forum has nothing more to offer you.

PCR is just about always positive within 2 weeks.  It is not possible to have HIV with the negagtive results you report.  You don't need any further testing.

Suck it up and move on.  This thread is over. Please don't post any more negative test results.

Thank you again for the PCR reassurance. The 5 week three day PCR and antibody came back negative *( private ) . Awaiting the blot  and blood work from doc. At this point I fear the 6 to 8 week window but the testing folks assure me the test are conclusive.I am feeling somewhat better and mouth yeast is subsiding from the meds.

Again my greatest fear are the three PCR///11....29....36 and RNA......22.... are to soon but I am still not clear on how someone could possibly have thrush  for a week take a Proviral DNA PCR and the result not be accurate.

I guess I will take a antibody at seven and 8 weeks ???

thanks again doc I have literally lost 15 pounds with anxiety and fear. I am still very afraid due to the length of time of the illness , the mouth thush and slight chest rash.

I am praying it is not an issue but I just can not let this go untill the eight week mark.
The new blisters on my knuckles at the end of my fingers have me worried about what else I may have blessed with.

Thanks again and I pray you are correct !

Most of the online information about time to conclusive HIV testing is for the antibody test.  The PCR test is conclusive, as I said above.  In any case, my judgment you don't have HIV is based on all the information you provide, not on any one test.  In addition to the negative tests, you had an exposure unlikely to result in HIV, AND a partner unlikely to be infected anyway, AND symptoms that don't sound like HIV.

Cephalexin and other antibiotics can result in yeast overgrowth (thrush).  But even so, you should not assume your oral symptoms are due to thrush; see the doctor or clinic who prescribed the antibiotic.  If in fact it is a yeast infection, it can be easily treated.

Try to stop worrying about HIV.  It simply isn't an issue here.

man your opinion helps alot ! I really am mentally preparing for the worst
I promise it was not a cold.
It was a virus of some sort a horrible mean nasuating fatigue and dry siunitus virus not a cold with a 3 week sore throat . Bottom line your saying that regardless of exposure if I had acute syptoms early and then the post antibiotic cephlexin tounge yeast ( its bad !! )  the PCR test at 28 day would have shown HIV ?  Acute symptoms early and then test should have popped seven days or so after acute syptoms ?   Why do I read everywhere its not conclusive ?

Welcome the the forum.  Bottom line:  for sure you don't have HIV.  Something else is the cause of your symptoms.

As we have said many, many times on this forum, test results ALWAYS outweigh symptoms and exposure history in judging whether or not someone might have a new HIV infeciton.  It is impossible to have HIV with negative PCR tests at 11 and 28 days.  And in any case, neither your symptoms nor expousres suggest any likelihood of HIV anyway.  Contrary to popular beliefs, breast milk is not highly infectious.  There is risk for transmission to a baby nursed by an infected mother.  But even then, only 10-15% of infants get infected over 6-12 months of breast feeding, despite swallowing several ounces of milk every day.  The risk is zero from getting a few drops of milk or breast secretions in the mouth, with or without cuts on the lips etc.  To your specific questions:

1) You have already had testing that is just as reliable as the duo test.  The PCR test is better than the p24 antigen component of the duo test and means the same thing.  In any case, the duo test undoubtedly will be increasingly available at various clinics, but it was only recently approved by the FDA for use in the US, so it might take a while.  I have no way of knowing where it might currently be available.

2) It didn't "show" because you don't have HIV.  Most cases of white tongue or white patches in the mouth are not yeast infections (thrush). But even if that's what you have, it doesn't necessarily indicate HIV.  Thrush occurs in healthy people with normal immune systems; I had it myself once.

3)  Your symptoms don't sound like HIV at all.  Acute HIV does not cause "sinus" symptoms (nasal congestion) and almost always causes fever.  If your symptoms were due to HIV, both your antibody and PCR tests would have been positive.  It sounds like you caught a cold, nothing more.

I can't tell whether you have been seeing a health professional or if you are self-diagnosing with online testing etc.  If your symptoms persist and you have not been professionally evaluated, do it now.  In the meantime, stop worrying about HIV.  You don't have it.

I hope this helps.  Best wishes--  HHH, MD
