Needle safety at HIV Testing

Dea all, and Teak specially,
I went for another HIV test, and it as at a public Health Clinic in a really seedy and bad neighborhood; It did not look very clean; when the guy tried to draw my blood, he took out a needle from a box sitting next to the chair; it was full other needles; the needle was not a separate plastic cover, as it was in another place; but the needle had a plastic cover which he had to twist and open; now I am frighten that the needle might not have been clean; I of course saw him threw it away in a trash can after the test; But still  should I be concerned? I know this is a silly question, but please answer. My question is should not all needles be in separate plastic covers? Any similar experiences? Thanks so much

All needles do have separate covers over the needles. They don't even sell or package needles in an non-sterile field. You can't even go to the vet supply store and get needles that aren't sterile and are not individually packaged.

if you were someone who was in a health care setting and it was your job to draw blood form pp...would you use a dirty needle and risk sticking yourself?
