You are incorrect. There are over 900,000 occupational exposures in the US each year in the healthcare field. Since 1985 to present less that 200 people have contracted HIV in that manner. There has never been a verified documented transmission of a needle stick in the non-occupational setting.
No there would not be a risk. Needle pokes rarely transmit HIV even in hospital settings.
