3 months is conclusive. There are no tests marketed or sold to give a conclusive test earlier than 3 months. You won't a source then I suggest you look up EACH test approval for EACH company.
My sources for the 6 week 95% accuracy HIV testing window comes from STD expert MDs of MedHelp, and as for HIV having an effect on menstrual cycles, that information was found on womenshealth.gov. http://www.womenshealth.gov/hiv-aids/opportunistic-infections-and-other-conditions/menstrual-problems-and-hiv-aids.cfm
Obviously, these are well-respected sources and I am not just surfing the internet for something to validate my unfounded beliefs.
It would be helpful if you could direct me to a source that states otherwise, or elaborate on why you think that HIV cannot cause women to miss their period.
Thank you for your help.
3 months post exposure as the test is approved for.
Orasure is not reliable???
No HIV does not cause women to miss their period. I have no idea where you are obtaining your incorrect information but it would do you good to STOP surfing the Internet.
I'm confused because there is a lot of literature online saying that HIV affects women's menstrual cycles, but a lot of MedHelp users seem to disagree. Can somebody explain why?
Can HIV cause women to miss their period? My cycle has been normal for the past 6 years, but it is currently 5 days late. I started having cramps a week ago, but the only thing that was coming out was an exorbitant amount of thick white discharge. No itching. When I went to the doctors, the NP diagnosed me w/ a yeast infection and BV so now I am on metronidazole. I am concerned because this is my second yeast infection in 3 weeks. Can this be HIV related?
You should have done the research on OraSure FDA approval and their own website.
Actually I've since conducted further research on MedHelp and thought you might be interested in reading this thread

Basically, newer studies show that after 6 weeks the test has over 90% reliability. I will probably retest at 3 months just to be safe but this is good information to know.
