if the condom did not fail...either one of two things happened. it was put on correctly or you were lucky.

Why are you so "innovative" about procedures ? Use condoms carefully, correctly and consistently, the way it is described on the pack. Slight scar by nail and teeth could damage this ultra thin highly delecate barrier.
