On PrEP, missed dose, condom broke! Help!

I am a gay male and have taken Truvada as PrEP daily since last November.

This past week, I ran out of my Truvada after taking it on Tuesday morning. Prior to that, I had taken it daily for more than a month. I did not take Truvada on Wednesday or Thursday. I changed insurances and wanted to wait to pick up my refill until I got my copay and assistance straightened out.

On Friday I had anal sex as the bottom with a man I know who says he is negative. We always use condoms, yet this time, it broke. He ejaculated inside me and we both freaked out when we saw it broke.

Afterwards, I went to pick up my immediately and took it. This was Friday afternoon. The guy said he went to get tested afterward and was negative, and wanted to get PEP, even though I told him I consistently took Truvada.

I am very worried because of my two missed doses prior to this incident! Am I at risk, even though I had been taking Truvada consistently for a very long time? Is going 2 days hours without having taken one really bad? Of course, I will NEVER do this again, but now I am so worried! Please help.

Hello, Unprotected anal sex carries a risk for HIV transmission so testing after this exposure is warranted, but there are factors that play in your favor.
The first is that he is unlikely to have HIV ( judging from his behavior after the incident, he seems quiet careful)
Truvada gives a great defense ( even if you miss one dose)
Finally HIV is not easily transmitted through a single exposure (although it is possible).
The overall risk is low but only testing would give 100% answer.
