Oral Sex - Touching

Like many others I am suffering from horrible anxiety over a recent encounter:

I am a 45 year old  uncircumsized male - received oral sex from a male (said he was disease free), I ejaculated and he then rubbed my penis tip againist his.  Not sure if there was transfer from precum on his tip to myself.   He then performed oral sex on me again.  I have no cuts or abbrassions on my penis.

I am worried about the oral sex risks and also the touching from tip to tip in regards to HIV risks.    I am planning on getting tested but 8 weeks seems like a long way off and this anxiety is affecting my overall health.

Thank you for your time.

Welcome to the forum.  I'll try to help.

This is essentially a zero risk situation with respect to HIV transmission.  The most commonly cited risk calcuation for oral sex, from the oral to penile partner -- if the oral partner is infected -- is around 1 for every 20,000 exposures.  That's equivalent to receiving BJs by infected partners once daily for 55 years before infection might be likely.  There are no data for penis to penis transmission, but the amount of secretion exposure is obviously very low and I would consider that a zero risk exposure.  On top of all this, it is unlikely your partner has HIV, since people rarely lie about HIV status when asked directly.

From a risk standpoint, you do not need HIV testing on account of this event.  However, if you wish to do it anyway for extra reassurance, you don't need to wait 8 weeks.  If you locate a clinic that offers the "4th generation" or "duo" test (for both HIV antibody and p24 antigen), testing is 100% reliable any time after 4 weeks.  Or an antibody-only test would be nearly 100% reliable at 6 weeks.

In the meantime, stay mellow.  There is no way you caught HIV from these events.

I hope this helps.  Best wishes-- HHH, MD
