Hi, I am curious about the Oraquick Advance HIV Test. From what I read, it has two sections, the Control section, and the Test section. After the specimen is added to the vial with fluit, it will flow up the test device, and if antibodies are found, a bar will appear in the T section. After that is done, it will travel further up and reach the Control section, where another bar will appear.
If I read correctly, the C section serves to ensure that a specimen was added to the vial and that it was tested correctly.
My question is, say someone does not swab their gums properly and/or does not swab them at all ( thus not adding a specimen to the testing strip ), will the device still show a bar in the C region, or nothing at all, thus indicating lack of specimen? If that is true, then it would prevent a tester "faking" it and not swabbing their gums in order to trick a negative.
Am I correct here?
