Other STIs increasing HIV Risk

Hello-

I am a gay man, primarily a top. After a full STI panel, I recently found out I got gonorrhea in my throat. I perform analingus and fellatio without protection, couldn’t really pinpoint where I picked it up. Everything else came back negative.

I have just started prep but before I was using condoms exclusively when I engaged in anal sex.

I am concerned that I swallowed ejaculate, and either picked up an STI from him or any of my other oral partners, increasing the likelihood of catching HIV. Especially since these exposures were 5ish days before I got my 4th gen negative test.

I appreciate everyone on this forum who gives amazing answers.

You didn't have a risk for HIV.  Having STis ONLY increases the risk for contracting HIV if you had a risk for HIV, and if you haven't had unprotected intercourse, you haven't had a risk.

Even if you are on PrEP, you should still use condoms for intercourse as PrEP does not guarantee protection.

I really appreciate you! I know that government/health websites cannot say “no risk” for unprotected oral. while the risk seems to be substantially lower than 1%, since it’s technically non-zero due to things such as oozing mouth sores, they can’t say “no risk.” It is anxiety inducing, I’ve been going through a lot in my life lately and I wouldn’t think twice if this hadn’t popped up. The doom googling began.

(I am in treatment for my mental health too, just a scary idea to toss around)
Your situation is no different than the other ones you read about so you obviously had zero risk. Continue with the mental health treatment because it might be able to help you to stop worrying.
