I must admit I'm a bit ignorant when it comes to HIV transmission (and I'm hoping my friends are too). Last night I went out for some drinks and pizza with a group of friends. I got a veggie pizza with tomatoes and had already had a decent amount of drinks (not to intoxication, but I was feeling good). Anyways, I ate a few pieces of the pizza, and then noticed a drop of what I thought was the pizza sauce (it was a special runny pomodoro sauce with oil and tom. sauce) on the plate and I dabbed te pizza into it and ate it. I then thought about it and wasn't sure if it was there before and that maybe it could be something other than sauce, such as a watery droplet of blood.I'm sure at least 4-5 minutes passed since I got the food before I ate the droplet that I thought was sauce, but what if it was a droplet of blood? Would this put me at ANY risk of HIV or any other STDS? My friends thought that since the droplet was watery, that if it was blood that the blood would have stayed viable and I could be infected with HIV (and potentially Hep b). Am I crazy to think that you can't get HIV from food such as this?
