Duo is virtually 100% reliable if negative at 4 weeks. The P24 antigen component picks up what the antibody test misses, and vice versa.
Hi Thanks for that. I'm just a bit concerned about the window for testing. It's only 4.5 weeks. Don't want to make myself anxious but it's playing on my mind.
Dr. Hook will be away from the forum for a few days.
Your test result proves you don't have HIV. Thanks for the thanks about the forum.
Hi Doctor
Thought you and any people reading this would like to know I had a DUO test today after 33 days and it came back negative. I guess that means the end then?
I would like to thank you for an invaluable website and continuing support
Best Wishes
How long since your incident? The average time to show antibody is 25 days. A neg test at that time is a good start. Every day after day 25 increases the %. You are home free at 90 days.
I believe you are neg but I also belive you should be tested, for peace of mind.
Thank you for your positive reply. I think you're right, I personally think I'm safe (at least rationally speaking)
Based on this one occurence you don't think i need to get a test then?
I shall not need any other questions answered
Thanks again
It sounds as though you doubt that you have HIV. You are almost certainly right. You had a single exposure which has only a 1 in 1000 chance of infecting you if she was infected with HIV. As you describe both her statement and her behavior, it is unlikely that she was HIV infected. Your symtoms could be due to fatigue, anxiety or a combination of the two. Please do your best not to worry further.

worryguyalso is right. I am at my 5.5 week mark and I haven't really been sick but every sneeze and sore throat feeling gets me going. I get tested next week or so. Its good to keep busy and not think about these things. Good luck.
Yep. that sounds about right jenkinjimmy. The doctor would answer that way.
I am at my 4 week mark and have not had any flu or typical symtomps (TG!), but as I am sure everyone here has read sometimes there are symptoms and sometimes there aren't. Anyway, you need to relax. Your exposure was low I think by what i read so far.
But my point here is: Relax and try to obtain calm moments in your days regarding this matter. Building up stress and anxiety could potentially cause your body to react. Then you may otherwise think you caught something when you really didn't.
I am not the doctor but he'll say something along these lines. Assuming she was HIV positive, your chances of getting it are 1 in 1000 to 2000. It sounds like she knew she was not positive. Of course that could've changed since her last test. Also, you did have the condom on for part of the time so you did have some protection.
Your "flu-like" symptoms are too early. They are supposed to happen 10-14 days after exposure. Plus, unless you had a very high fever, your symptoms are probably not related to HIV. Just relax.
