Possible HIV exposure

I recently had a family member/roommate inform me that he was recently diagnosed with HIV. I was told this a few days before my fiancee was coming to visit. Things were fine then something that has haunted me for the last 6 weeks happened.

As I went to pick up my fiancee from the airport, this family member scratched off a scab on his leg and had blood running down his leg. When we walked in he was extremely careless about the situation  (and I'm sure me knowing his situation made him appear to be more careless than I would have otherwise noticed). Anyhow, while he was messing around with his knee (i'm not really sure what he was doing) We walked in and because another family member next to him got up to shake my fiancee's hand, he didn't want to be rude and he turned around and put out his hand. At this moment I freaked. Because I didn't want to put this person's business out there I tried to get my fiancee to go wash her hands without causing a scene and then I looked at her hands to see if she had any cuts or anything. I don't think I noticed anything. Because I thought nothing of the event and I just assumed I was freaking myself out (which i'm known to do) we had a fair amount of sex during that weekend. Both me and her are extremely healthy individuals and we've been together for so long that we know that we're both clean so the sex was unprotected (obviously she uses a birth control patch).

Anyhow, about a month later I came down with symptoms very similar to ARS and and I told myself not to completely freak out about it because it could very much be stress.

During this same week my fiancee also went to the obgyn and today (2 weeks later) she got test results back that showed abnormal pap smear. What does this mean and in anyway could this be related to the initial incident?

you definitly need to learn about transmission of hiv, zero risk. and abnormal pap smear would not have anything to do with hiv. anything can be ars symptoms so they are not specific to hiv. you most likely had a bug. try not to freak out its bad for your health.

You describe an exposure that is 0 risk for HIV. There might be theoretical risk if your roommate was gushing pints of blood out of his knee directly into a fresh cut on your fiancees hand. You have absolutely NOTHING to worry about for the "exposure" you describe above.

ARS symptoms are meaningless in diagnosing HIV - and a month is typically too late anyway. Abnormal pap smear has absolutely nothing to do with HIV.
