Dear doctor Hook. Thank you very much for replying. Since they spoke to my spanglish I found it difficult to understand them! The treatment they gave me is Enantyum. The reason why I was very worried is because they told me I need to wait another 6 months for HIV 2! But with your adivce I have calmed down a great deal. I only ask for one thing. Could you please reply to thr last message I sent regarding the duo test. Thanks
Welcome to our Forum. You are in the clear. A negative Duo test at 8 weeks is proof that you did not get HIV when your condom broke. You do not need further testing, you do not need to worry about HIV-1 or HIV-2 and you should continue to use condoms in the future (condoms break about 1% of the time unless you are doing something wrong).
I am less clear about what you describe as "inflammation of the urethra". This sounds like nongonococcal urethritis which is the most common kind of STD in men. It is typically treated with either doxycycline for 7 days or a single 1.0 gram dose of azithromycin. You should have this clarified and, if appropriate, treated. EWH
Dear doc, sorry for asking questions in seperate posts. I took the test in spain and therefore the results are in spanish. As I said above I believe it was the duo test. But my question is this. When they test for the p24 antigen, do they test for HIV 1 and 2? Because from what I can understand they did a pes antigen test for HIV 1 and antibosy test for 1 and 2. Thanks again
Ps. the condom tore and i took the test 8 weeks after i had sex.
