Proteinuria & STD's

Hello doctors, thanks for your time. I've posted 2 questions on here regarding an encounter I had with a CSW back in May. I was reassured by you that I did not get HIV as the incident was protected and my rapid HIV test that was done at 8 weeks was negative.

Today I had my annual physical and they found protein in my urine. I tested last week and today and both urinalysis's came back positive for traces of protein. I am undergoing further testing this week.

I'm trying my best not to be anxious, and I trust when you tell me that I did not get HIV. My question is could the protein found in my urine be an indicator of any STD's? Hepatitus? In addition to my rapid HIV test at 8 weeks, I've also tested negative for Clamydia and Gonnorhea. Do I need to get tested for anything else? I've also read that proteinuria can be caused by excessive stress, which this incident has caused me. Is that the most likely cause in your opinion?

Forgive me if this question is driven by anxiety, but my wife and I are trying to have a baby and I want to be absolutely certain she is not at risk for anything, HIV or otherwise.

Sorry doc, I did intend to put this in the STD forum, not sure what happened. I will adhere to all policies going forward.

First, your question is in the wrong forum.  This is an STD question that should have been posted on the STD forum.  Second, MedHelp permits a maximum of 2 questions every 6 months on the professionally moderated forums (see Terms and Conditions); this is your third on this fourm within a few weeks.

Neither STDs nor HIV are likely causes of protein in the urine.  It has nothing to do with your CSW exposure.  Discuss the result with your own doctor.

There will be no follow-up comments or dicussion.  And do heed the rule about number of questions, which is designed to allow room for all users who have questions.  Any new ones will be deleted without reply (and without refund of the posting fee).
