The 19 day result is certainly strong evidence that you did not get HIV however, as I have already told you, the 4th generation, or DUO tests are not definitive until 28 days. In your case, since there was no risk to begin with and therefore you did not need testing at all, it does not matter when you test, the result will be negative.
This ends this thread. There will be no more answers. You need to put your fears behind you.. EWH
good day dr.hook. last week i had a negative elisa 4th generation test, 19 days after my possible exposure. how much reassurance can i gain from this result or should i wait until thursday, the 28th day after exposure to re test? i am really stressed out about this. many thanks
good morning once again dr hook. my fear got the better of me and i went and had an elisa 4th generation test 19 days after the exposure. the results were negative. how much confidence can i in the results. i have been doing some research and have read that the p24 can be detected in large numbers after about 14 days. many thanks.
When condoms fail, they break wide open leaving no doubt that they failed. You really do not need to worry about condom failure. EWH
good day dr. hook. my mind is racked with guilt and anxiety over last weeks exposure. the condom seemed intact with the ejaculate in the tip of the condom.is it possible for a small tear to have developed without being noticed. the sex was very gentle and only lasted about 3 minutes. many thanks once again.
thank you for your answer dr. hook. if sufficient amounts of vaginal fluids were transfered to the tip of the penis from the toilet paper, would it pose a risk? thank you once again.
Welcome back to the Forum . Actions such as these are common following condom protected sex and it is also common that following condom protected sex small amounts of one's partner's genital secretion get onto the person who was wearing the condom. Despite this, condom protected sex remains safe sex and, as long as the condom remains intact as yours did, there is no meaningful risk of HIV. The virus dies quickly on contact with air and in situations like yours is not introduced into the urethra where infection is more likely. The situation you describe did not put you at risk for HIV and does not require testing .EWH
