Received Unprotected Oral Sex - Anxiety

Hello

I found this forum a great place for discussion for my HIV fear.

I am a male 32 married with kids. I had oral sex performed on me 10weeks ago. She took my penis in her mouth and I cum in her mouth, I didn’t not engage in other encounter. After almost a week I started having HIV fear with a strong anxiety. This has damaged my nerves at the back of my neck and still I have tiredness and lack of concentration.

I dared to go for a HIV I/II AB/AG Combo at 47th day which came back 0.26 negative and non-reactive. This was a little bit stress reliever. I consulted the doctors and all of them prescribed me anti anxiety medications like Seroxat and Alprazolam which I took for a week and then stopped abruptly. After 10 days of discontinuation of these medicines which was 10th week post exposure, I got soar throat/mild flue and low grade fever less than 100F and again fatigue and confusion now. ENT doctor gave me antibiotics which helps to overcome soar throat in 2-3 days, however, fever is still there on and off, more over the inner side towards my throat my tongue is having white coating. I also got very few mosquito bite like rashes which disappears in few hours. There are some pin head pimple which dries in 3-4 days, one on neck, one on forehead and couple on chest. In 10th week on and off I get sharp pains in my abdomen which last for seconds and then disappear, it happens in-consistently during the day.

I am told that the HIV test I had is conclusive as I was on negligible risk and do not require retesting. I am again dying with HIV fear and need your advice on below please:

1. Do I need to retest
2. Can a 7weeks HIV combo negative test turn to positive at 12 weeks in my case considering my risk level
3. What are all my symptoms in 10th week, could this be something else and not HIV and which test I should go for to diagnose this
4. Can these sysmptoms be caused after acute stress and anxiety which I experienced in first 6 weeks

I really need your advice to help my mind and body please

Martin

It is all due to anxiety. The over thinking is bringing change in your lifestyle. Anxiety and over thinking would make things worse and you may get changes in your life pattern like drinking less water, consuming food at irregular intervals, use of substances like cigarette, alcohol etc. All these factors can invite unwanted illness. Accept the fact that you have no concerns for HIV from the stated event. If oral sex would have been a real risk, more than half of the world would have been positive by now as oral sex is performed by major of the people in this world. Just relax and live your life happily.

No worries. Not due to HIV I am sure. Its due to anxiety or common illness like stomach flu etc. Are you stressing too much thinking about HIV? I mean, are you facing following changes in your life style now like below?

1) Constant worrying about the infection.
2) Skipping or irregular consumption of meals.
3) Change in sleeping pattern.
4) Stopped something that was a routine in life example exercising.
5) Constantly thinking on 'What if' aspects.

I am glad I helped you. You absolutely do not have any HIV concerns from the above activity. Absolutely not! Commitment comes with trust and sticking to ones partner after they are committed with trust is ones responsibility. Just start your life happily. All the best Martin.

Thanks a lot and i will go again to see my ENT Dr today.  I think i can leave my stress behind and move forward with my life which has been affected a lot in past 10 weeks.

Moreover, I am never going to have any type of sex with anyone except my partner.

A throat culture test never identifies HIV infection. It is a test to identify any bacterial/viral infection, if any, present in the throat. Again, sore throat etc do not mean one is infected with HIV, it is just a myth spread across the web. When ARS symptoms are felt by an individual, the symptoms are Flu like and there is a difference between Flu and common cold.

Thanks a lot......I have done a blood count test and throat culture, reports due tomorrow.

Just last question, HIV sore throat would show up as an infection in throat or not, in a throat culture test.

Your words means a lot

Hi, please find the answers below

1. Oral sex is not a risk and there has been not a single case registered for receiving oral sex. You never needed a test and do not need any further testing.

2. No.

3. Symptoms do not define presence of HIV. Only a blood test meant for HIV concludes the presence of infection or not.

4. Anxiety leads to a huge number of symptoms. Many more that what you feel.

Hope this helps.
