Risk for HIV

Thanks in advance for this wonderful service.

Here is my situation.  On March 3rd, I had protected sex with a prostitute.   On April 7th, I received unprotected oral sex from a Asian lady in a massage parlor.  I had an HIV 1+2 AB, EIA test on April 8th and it was non reactive.  I did the same test again on May 12th and it was non reactive also.  What are my risks from this situation?  I am supposed to take a follow up test in August.  What are the chances this test will be positive?  I am a hetrosexual male and my "events" occured in Denver, Colorado.  My test were performed by a Kaiser Permanente lab.

Thanks again

Zero risk for both kinds of exposure.  For HIV , safe sex is pretty simple:  no bare penis (i.e. without condom) inside someone's vagina or rectum = no risk.  Mouth almost no risk.

Thanks Doc for the information.  I am still going to take the test, but I truly believe the result will be negative.  Two last questions:

1.  What are the risks associated with receiving a handjob or fingering a girl?
2.  Is there any risk from receiving a lapdance from a fully naked girl?

Thanks again

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for the thanks in advance.

Oral sex almost never transmits HIV, at least not from mouth to genitals.  Further, the chance any particular female sex worker has HIV is low, probably on the order of 1 in 1,000 (especially in Denver, where heterosexually transmitted HIV remains quite uncommon). Finally, HIV test results are virtually 100% reliable when done 2+ months after exposure, as your second test was done.  Considering the nature of the exposure plus the test results, you can move on with absolute certainty you did not catch HIV.  If a health care provider has recommended a final test in August, feel free to do it -- but with the modern, standard HIV tests, it never takes that long for positive results.

I hope this helps.  Best wishes--  HHH, MD
